Sailboat Sail Diagram How Do I Learn To Sail A Small Sailboat Without ASA Lessons?

How do I learn to sail a small sailboat without ASA lessons? - sailboat sail diagram

I'll buy something like a Zuma Sailboat 13 'and wants to learn to navigate the reality. But the lessons here (Beach, CA) are all about the "certification" and costs 500 to $ 700 and are to participate for the club from his "boat" ... It seems a little excessive. Where can I learn to drive a boat, learned only in the Bay without learning how to sail on a keelboat 25 'and on the menu, etc.. seems to be coming to the next, more and more to learn to sail?

Is there an online source for me started, what to make the leap and me, and tests? I read a decent book .. What are the real benefits of spending a lot of money in a school?

As someone who is teaching in the minimal, as was surfing, I can not stress enough how important it is to receive adequate training, especially if you go sailing anywhere near any other boat, power or a candle. You need to be confident enough to sail the boat in each direction on the country conditions, and how to enforce traffic laws (at least not * Note: sailing always * has the right of way). While is a yacht club to * learn * to navigate too high, you should be able to provide a navigation program available for the community assistance. If the "Teach Yourself" How to choose a day in moderate wind and little traffic, wear a life jacket, and look for the boat, what is said. If you think you are taking are a good thrashing in the water, then you're probably wrong.

My final advice - do not make the mistake of beginners to sail from his first spring-Lee until you are sure to sail against the wind efficiently enough to back. Otherwise, you're in a looooong day:)

You basically have three options:
- Find out for yourself
- Find someone to teach you
- Take a class

In fact, there are many among us, was the first route. In my case, was in a boat that makes the candle.

SWSA can use the second method. It is largely a question of finding someone to help with the times.

About the prices, I suggest you try the Center for Wooden Boats at the foot of Lake Union. They have a program called Sail Well, probably half the cost of which, what has been called during the AAS. In general, offers a teacher and 3 students at a time leaving one of their boats. CWB and the individual classes, but I'm not sure what cost.

According to their qualification, you rent their boats. Or, to help and for all 3 hours of volunteer work you a free hour boat rental. You can reach the city, a few hours to work with charter boats, maintenance or in the office, then help the process of a boat for a joyride. They spent a pleasant afternooContribute to a good cause "no" and did not cost a penny.

CCB is also a good way to keep in touch with a variety of small boats. Chat with platforms platforms platforms jib headed sloop, launched equipment that handle the candle, whatever. It boarders center keel boats, helmets and Sharples round. If you've read in a book, you can probably not the experiment on the CWB. This show is really great, what a boat that you really before buying to see how.

There are books in the library would be useful. You can browse Amazon.com, looking to buy books if I wanted to go in that direction. Council of luck, but I think if you get to buy a sailboat / from a professional or experienced sailor.
